Author Guidelines

Publication Fees

There are no Article Processing Charges (APC) for publication of the journal on all submissions.

Before Submission

Please make sure that your manuscript meets the below criteria:

1. Your manuscript is an original work and has not been published nor currently under review with another journal or Conference Proceedings.
2. Your work meets all the Research Ethics. The manuscript should contain a separate section of "Ethics Approval" if the work involves human or animal subjects.
3. The English of the manuscript is acceptable and it should be free of grammatical and spelling errors.
4. The manuscript should be edited according to WSJET template (after acceptance). The template can be downloaded by clicking on the provided link, then selecting File > Download > Microsoft Word (.docx).
5. Your figures are of acceptable quality.
6. Your references are formatted correctly and numbered as they appear in the text. Please see the reference style in WSJET template.
7. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims & scope of the journal will be reviewed.
8. Manuscripts must conform to the guidelines of WSJET shown below.

Submissions that don't adhere to these guidelines will be rejected or returned to the Author prior to the peer review process.

Language

Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Before submission, please ensure that your manuscript is understandable and free of grammatical or spelling errors.

Articles Types

Warith Scientific Journal of Engineering and Technology) WSJET) publishes original and unpublished research articles and state-of-the-art papers. It seeks original research efforts based on theoretical or experimental work that fills the gap in current knowledge. The journal accepts and publishes the following article types:

1. Original Study

An article introducing original research, including theoretical exposition, extensive data, and in-depth critical evaluation.

2. Review Article

A review article, sometimes also called state of the art, is an article that summarizes the current state of understanding on a topic comprehensively. It analyzes or discusses research previously published by others. It should include a critical evaluation of existing data, defined topics or emerging fields of investigation, or critical issues of concern.

 

Submission

• All articles to be considered for publication in the Warith Scientific Journal of Engineering and Technology should be submitted electronically to the journal's online submission system.
• You must proofread your manuscript before submission to check for spelling and grammatical errors. The manuscript should be in standard MS word document format only, and you will be guided stepwise through the creation and uploading of the various files.
• All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, takes place by e-mail and via the author's homepage, removing the need for a hard-copy paper trail.

 

Manuscript Preparation

• Manuscripts should be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections as appropriate. Principal sections should be numbered consecutively (1. Introduction, 2. Materials, and Methods, etc.) and subsections should be numbered 1.1., 1.2., etc. 
• All authors who report experiments on humans or animals are required to give assurance in the “Ethics Approval” section that the humans and animals were treated in accordance with the guidelines of the local ethics committee; the approval reference number should be included where relevant.

 

Manuscript Template Guide

• Please review our Manuscript Template to use as a guide. The template can be downloaded by clicking on the provided link, then selecting File > Download > Microsoft Word (.docx).
• The file must be saved in the native format of the word processor used. Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced on processing the article. In particular, do not use the word processor's options to justify text or to hyphenate words. However, do use boldface, italics, subscripts, superscripts, etc. When preparing tables, if you are using a table grid, use only one grid for each individual table and not a grid for each row. The electronic text should be prepared in a way very similar to that of conventional manuscripts. 
• To avoid unnecessary errors, you are strongly advised to use the 'spell-check' and 'grammar-check' functions of your word processor.

 

Article Structure

Your paper should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, ethics approval, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s); figure(s) with captions.

Title page: The title should be concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript. One author will need to be identified as the corresponding author, with their email address normally displayed in the article PDF and the online article. If any of the named co-authors moves affiliation during the peer-review process, the new affiliation can be given as a footnote. Please note that no changes to affiliation can be made after your paper is accepted.

Abstract: The abstract of about 150－250 words should outline the objective, method and main results, and conclusion. It should be informative, without descriptive words or citations. Together with the title, the abstract must be adequate as an index to all the subjects treated in the paper and will be used as a base for indexing.

Keywords: Please provide 3 to 5  keywords that can describe the manuscript for indexing.

Introduction: Provide background that allows readers outside the discipline to understand the significance of the study. Include a brief review of important literature in the relevant field.

Material and methods: Provide sufficient details to allow the work to be reproduced by an independent researcher. Methods that are already published should be summarized and indicated by a reference.

Theory/calculation: A Theory section should extend, not repeat, the background to the article already dealt with in the Introduction and lays the foundation for further work. In contrast, a Calculation section represents a practical development from a theoretical basis.

Results and Discussion: Results should be clear and concise. Discussion should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. A combined Results and Discussion section is often appropriate. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.

Conclusions: A short and concise conclusion for the investigation should be included. Repetition of results and discussion should be avoided!

Acknowledgments: This is for the authors to express their gratitude to those who have helped during their research. Information concerning funding organizations (including the grant numbers) for the reported research is also usually provided here. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.

Disclosure statement: This is to acknowledge any financial or non-financial interest that has arisen from the direct applications of your research. If there are no relevant competing interests to declare please state this within the article, for example, The authors report there are no competing interests to declare.

Supplemental online material: Supplemental material can be a video, dataset, file set, sound file, or anything which supports your paper.

Figures: Figures should be high quality (1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, and 300 dpi for color, at the correct size). Figures should be supplied in one of our preferred file formats: EPS, PS, JPEG, TIFF, or Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX) files are acceptable for figures that have been drawn in Word.

Tables: Tables should present new information rather than duplicating what is in the text. Readers should be able to interpret the table without reference to the text. Please supply editable tables.

Equations: Please ensure that the equations are editable. Please use SI units (non-italicized).

References: Use IEEE reference style. In the IEEE reference style, sources are cited in the text using sequential numbers in square brackets, such as [1], [2], and so on, in the order in which they appear. References are identified only by their number—do not use terms like “Ref. [3]” or “reference [3]” unless they appear at the beginning of a sentence, as in: “Reference [3] describes...”. The reference list should be organized numerically, not alphabetically. If a DOI (digital object identifier) is available for an article, always include it. Do not include footnotes in the reference list; however, numbered superscript footnotes may be used in the document body. Use letters (e.g., a, b, c) for footnotes in tables. Unpublished works should be labeled “unpublished,” and accepted-but-unpublished articles as “in press.”

Revised Submission

When you revise your manuscript, upload your revised submissions including the following files:

• Revised manuscript:

Clarifying the changes you have made since the original submission by using the "Track Changes" option in Microsoft Word. Upload this as a "Revised Article with Changes Highlighted" file.

• Response to reviewers:

Type the specific points made by each reviewer. Include your responses to all the reviewers' and editors' comments and list the changes you have made to the manuscript. Upload this document as a "Response to reviewers" file.

• Revised manuscript (clean copy):

Upload a clean copy of your revised manuscript with names, which does not show your changes. Upload this as your "Manuscript" file.

 

Peer Review and Ethics

Peer Review Process: Warith Scientific Journal of Engineering and Technology is devoted to peer-review integrity with the highest standards of review. Each received manuscript is initially evaluated for suitability to the journal by the editor. Manuscripts are rejected by the editors if they are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, need extensive improvement in the language, or do not fall within the aims and scope of the journal. Manuscripts deemed suitable are sent to a minimum of two external peer reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. This journal operates a double-blind review process, in which both the reviewers' and authors' identities are concealed from each other. Editors will make a decision based on the reviewers’ reports and authors are sent these reports along with the editorial decision on their manuscript. Authors should note that even in light of one positive report, concerns raised by another reviewer may fundamentally undermine the study and result in the manuscript being rejected.

 

Ethics in Publishing

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. Your study must meet all ethical requirements as outlined in our Publication Ethics. If the manuscript does not pass these ethical requirements we may return it to you for further revisions, or decline consideration of your study for publication.

 

Submission Declaration and Verification

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract, a published lecture, or an academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright holder. To verify originality, all manuscripts submitted to WSJET are screened to identify any plagiarized content.

 

Plagiarism

Plagiarism in any form constitutes a serious violation of publication ethics and is not acceptable. Plagiarism is defined as ‘using someone else’s ideas, words, data, or other material produced by them without acknowledgment’. Even if a citation is given, if quotation marks are not placed around words taken directly from other authors’ work, the author is still guilty of plagiarism. Reuse of the author’s own previously published words, with or without a citation, is regarded as self-plagiarism. All manuscripts received are submitted to a sophisticated plagiarism-checking system, which compares the content of the manuscript with a vast database of web pages and academic publications. Manuscripts judged to be plagiarized or self-plagiarized, will not be considered for publication. Open-access theses are considered as published works and they are included in the similarity checks. Submissions containing plagiarism in whole or part, duplicate, and redundant publication or self-plagiarism will be rejected.

 

Changes to Authorship

Authors are strongly advised to ensure the correct author group, the Corresponding Author, and the order of authors at submission. Changes of authorship by adding or deleting authors, and/or changes in Corresponding Author, and/or changes in the sequence of authors are not accepted after acceptance of a manuscript. Adding and/or deleting authors at the revision stage is generally not permitted, but in some cases, it may be warranted. The reasons for these changes in authorship should be explained. Approval of the change during revision is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. To request such a change, the Editor-in-Chief must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in the author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of the addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.

If author affiliation changes between the time that the research is conducted or the paper is written and the time of publication, the author's current affiliation should be listed, and where appropriate, the previous affiliation acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section at the copy-editing stage.

Complying with Ethics of Experimentation

Please ensure that all research reported in submitted papers has been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner, and is in full compliance with all relevant codes of experimentation and legislation. All original research papers involving humans, animals, plants, biological material, protected or non-public datasets, collections or sites, must include a written statement under an Ethics Approval section including the following:

• The name of the ethics committee(s) or institutional review board(s) involved.
• The number or ID of the ethics approval(s).
• A statement that human participants have provided informed consent before taking part in the research.
• Research involving animals must adhere to ethical standards concerning animal welfare. All original research papers involving animals must:
  • Follow international, national, and institutional guidelines for the humane treatment of animals.
  • Receive approval by the ethics review committee at the institution or practice at which the research was conducted and provide details on the approval process, names of the ethics committee(s) or institutional review board(s) involved, and the number or ID of the ethics approval(s) in the Ethics Approval section.
  • Provide justification for use of animals and the species selected.
  • Provide information about housing, feeding, and environmental enrichment, and steps taken to minimize suffering.
  • Provide mode of anesthesia and euthanasia.

Research that does not meet the above-listed requirements regarding ethical approval and animal welfare will be rejected.

 

Studies involving Humans, Animals, and Plants

• Research involving humans

If the work involves the use of human subjects, the author should ensure that the work described has been carried out in accordance with The Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki) for experiments involving humans. The manuscript should be in line with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals and aim for the inclusion of representative human populations (sex, age, and ethnicity) as per those recommendations. The terms sex and gender should be used correctly.

Authors should include a statement in the Ethics Approval section that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed.

• Research involving animals

All animal experiments should comply with the ARRIVE guidelines and should be carried out in accordance with the U.K. Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 and associated guidelines, EU Directive 2010/63/EU for animal experiments, or the National Research Council's Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the authors should clearly indicate in the Ethics Approval section that such guidelines have been followed. The sex of animals must be indicated, and where appropriate, the influence (or association) of sex on the results of the study.

• Research involving plants

Studies on plants must be carried out within the guidelines provided by the authors' institution and national or international regulations. Where applicable, a statement of permissions granted or licenses should be included. Authors should comply with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Convention on the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

 

Consent for Publication

For all manuscripts that include details or images relating to an individual person, written informed consent for the publication of these details must be obtained from that person (or their parent or legal guardian in the case of children under 18. If the person has died, consent for publication must be obtained from their next of kin. The manuscript (at the Ethics Approval section) must include a statement that written informed consent for publication was obtained.

Authors can use the consent form to obtain consent for publication, or a consent form from their own institution or region if appropriate. The consent form must state that the details/images will be freely available on the internet and may be seen by the general public. The consent form must be made available to the Editor if requested and will be treated confidentially.

 

Open Access and Copyright Policy

Every peer-reviewed research article appearing in this journal will be published open access. This means that the article is universally and freely accessible via the internet in perpetuity, in an easily readable format immediately after publication. The author does not have any publication charges for open access. The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa will pay to make the article open-access.

For non-commercial purposes, it is possible for others to distribute and copy the article, and to include it in a collective work (such as an anthology), as long as they credit the author(s) and provided they do not alter or modify the article.

 

Conflict of Interests Statement

At the end of the manuscript, a statement related to conflicts of interest must appear listing all competing interests (financial and non-financial). Where authors have no competing interests, the statement should read “The author(s) declare(s) that they have no competing interests”. The Editor may ask for further information relating to competing interests.

Publication Fees

There are no Article Processing Charges (APC) for publication of the journal on all submissions.

Copyright

Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete an 'Exclusive License Agreement'. Permitted third-party reuse of open-access articles is determined by the author's choice of user license.

Author Rights

As further described in our submission agreement, in consideration for publication of the article, the authors assign to Warith Scientific Journal of Engineering and Technology all copyright in the article.

User Rights

for non-commercial purposes, lets others distribute and copy the article, and include in a collective work (such as an anthology), as long as they credit the author(s) and provided they do not alter or modify the article.
